Discover easy ways to get older school kids to play instruments.
The trick is in the Orff teaching principles of using movement, speech, and singing to support the music making. When instruments are played, we use simple, repeated patterns and simple accompaniments which fit together to sound much more sophisticated than the individual parts would suggest. Many songs have spaces for improvisation, giving kids the chance to be creative in a supportive, safe (and therefore successful) setting.
